The Divergence Syndrome in Social Systems
Vladimir Dimitrov, Robert Woog and Lesley Kuhn-White |
|
| Abstract | |
| The divergence syndrome manifests itself in social complexity of human life not only as an extreme sensitivity of society to any fluctuation in political, economic or cultural conditions, but also as an acceleration of social changes beyond the ability of society to control their direction and intensity. How - instead of serving as a cause for social crisis - can the divergence syndrome be the "bearer" of positive transitions in societal life? This question is answered in this study, together with an explanation of the Gorbachev phenomenon which is that those who trigger or evoke social criticality become victims of the undiscriminating forces they create. | |
